North Los Altos, roughly bounded by Foothill Expressway, El Monte Road, El Camino Real and Adobe Creek, was once covered in orchards. Houses now vary in shape and size from ranch style to cottages. There are no tract homes. Recently the area has experienced a major building boom as people tear down the older homes. The neighborhood is a great mix of families and empty nesters with families living within walking distance of the elementary school where there is a lot of parent volunteerism.
